This November will mark the return of Sydney Cellar Door, a two-day celebration of the finest wines from across New South Wales, developed by industry association NSW Wine. The event will serve as the tentpole moment of the first ever NSW Wine Month in Sydney, set to be a month-long celebration of the state’s best winemakers, including events, masterclasses and Sydney-wide venue promotions all in the name of driving awareness of the regional NSW wine offering.

Taking place from 9-10 November 2024 on Tallawoladah Lawn and in partnership with major sponsor The Rocks, Sydney Cellar Door will bring a taste of NSW’s wine regions to the heart of Sydney, showcasing the breadth, quality and diversity of wines the State has to offer.

Reigniting a legacy after an almost 10-year hiatus, the 2024 event promises to offer wine enthusiasts a unique opportunity to taste, discover, and celebrate wines from 40 regional producers across 16 NSW wine regions. From the iconic to the emerging, Sydney Cellar Door is a chance for attendees to reacquaint themselves with past favorites, discover new varieties or take a wine tasting tour from region to region.

Among the 40 participants, Philip Shaw and Ross Hill will be pouring wines from the cool-climate slopes of Orange, family-owned brands like Margan and Tyrrell’s will be representing the Hunter Valley while Mudgee institutions Lowe Family Wines and Robert Stein will be showcasing classic Mudgee varietals.

With NSW wines making up only 12% of listings on Greater Sydney wine lists, the event serves as a moment for igniting conversation around the incredible variety and quality of wines available right on our doorstep.

The Sydney Cellar Door event will be free to attend, with guests able to purchase branded tasting glasses and tokens to sample their way through the different producers. In addition to wine tastings, there will be food trucks and live entertainment making it a fun-filled weekend for all.

“The relaunch of Sydney Cellar Door in 2024 marks the revival of an important landmark event in Sydney’s wine culture, and one that we look forward to growing” said Mark Bourne, President, NSW Wine. “After 235 years since the first grapes were planted in Australia at  Circular Quay, winemakers from across NSW are returning to showcase the diversity and quality of  wines  — so join us across two days to celebrate the rich wine history of NSW.”

“We are thrilled to bring the NSW Wine Sydney Cellar Door to life in The Rocks, a place where the very first vines arrived in Australia. Building on our relationship with the NSW Wine Industry Association and the successful bi-monthly pop-up cellar door at The Rocks Markets, this event will further showcase the best wines our region has to offer. November will be the time to enjoy more NSW wine experiences throughout The Rocks” said Anita Mitchell, Chief Executive, Placemaking NSW.
